When we got to Charleston, we went to an
Apple technology store–the only one in South Carolina. Then we left the city and took the new bridge to James island. We stopped for bait before we went to the dock on the inter-coastal waterway. My great Uncle Ray took us to his 32 foot Morgan sloop sail boat. I saw many things like a Spotted Eagle Ray. It jumped out of the water and slapped down. My Uncle Ray taught me this is how they give birth. And we saw porpoises 10 feet away from the boat. We saw a boat on its side because of the tide and a sandbar. "Red, right, returning" means when you are returning from the ocean, the red buoy is on the right because that is where the channel is deepest. We needed at least four feet of water to move.

Saving Turtles

Loggerhead turtles are a beautiful species. She wrote and illustrated The Royal Mice– my favorite book. But here's my story. One day I went to the public library when I was 5 -years-old and got the book. I read it over and over. That night I got ill and threw up on the book. Me and my mom cleaned it off and talked to the librarian. She said we may have it. A few years later, we looked at the address of the writer and sent a letter to her. Loretta sent me a signed copy of The Royal Mice. She has been my pen pal ever since and I really wanted a mouse. 3 months later, my wish came true. I GOT A MOUSE for Christmas. His name is Little Francis– short for that is LF.
